The Dubai Story

This metropolis is out to set records like no other city. It is reinventing the Orient on a daily basis, building the world’s highest skyscrapers, reaching for the stars.

Where yesterday there was desert, today there is a wonderland: Dubai is the Arabia of the 21st century, the New York of the new millennium. People from over a hundred nations are building the world of tomorrow, living in this melting pot of cultures. And by the way, photographic icons that will one day stand for an epoch are being created here, as in America in the 1920s. Already they are documents of their time. They tell of rising from nothing, from light and shadow – of the sheikhs who, two generations ago, had nothing but sand and then found themselves in a position to buy half the world. They illustrate a modern fairy tale: The Dubai Story.
